Squint - 'Beeker'
A really cool collection of well-written old-school p-rock songs
that verge dangerously close to being chauvinistic at places but
still manage to come off as compassionate and extremely charming-the
Southern man is a dangerous animal. I know, because I used to
be married to one. "Dinner" is a good example of one
such song: it starts off with the less-than enlightened "Say,
girl, why's the house a mess?/Say, baby, did you do the dishes?"
and actually ends on a humble and loving note-no mean trick, if
you ask me. The band's pretty tight as well, staying true to the
genre without coming off as stale or repetitive.
