OLD BIOGRAPHY ARTICLE

Squint was born (1994) in the town of Houghton, Michigan as a byproduct
of the near life long friendship of Dane Adrian (vocals) and Matt Fredrickson
(guitar). While still in high school, they recruited bassist Jer Pletka and
drummer Tote Burnett to form a four-piece lineup, which became the first
incarnation of Squint.

Constantly playing shows and even recording some odd tracks here and there,
the band achieved success in their hometown. It was around this time that Matt
bumped into a young guitarist by the name of Kelly Matson at a local produce
store. Kelly agreed to put down the bok choy and Romaine, and pick up his
guitar. After a couple of practices, Kelly was accepted as a full-fledged member
of the group, bringing a much harder edge to the music.
In an attempt to take
advantage of this shot in the arm, Squint recorded a locally released tape with
Bernie Larsen (Melissa Etheridge, David Lindley) at the Real Corporate
Image studio in Michigan.

Hometown heroes though they were, frustration began to set in. Given their
current surroundings...nothing...a decision was made to choose a region of the
country, pack up, hit the road, and take their chances. They picked the Southeast
because of it's central location to music cities such as Nashville, Austin, and
Atlanta and began their journey. Destination: Louisiana. The band, with their
bassist having opted out of the move, had a lot of work to do.

The boys hit the ground running, quickly picking up Tim Bryan, former bassist for
the Habitual Sex Offenders. The new lineup played more shows, wrote better
songs, and carved their own niche into the local music scene. The culmination of
these events led to the recording of ten new songs which far surpassed their
previous work. Chicken Ranch Records placed many of these songs on it's
national compilation releases.

Soon after these events, the band found itself in a state of flux. Bassist Tim Bryan
accepted an offer to join Nashville's Methadone Actors. After a long period of
auditions, Squint finally found their new bassist, Young Charles. With their lineup
secured, Squint returned to the studio. The band chose Aztlan Recording and
Production in Houston, TX for their four day recording and mixing marathon. This
session resulted in beeker, their first major independent album. beeker was
released in May of 1998 and has generated quite a positive response from critics.

Squint pushes onward, touring constantly with their energetic live shows in support
of their latest release.
